Stampede begin Nationals run with victory

Texas wins 57–40 over Lakeshore

The Texas Stampede, defending national champions, faced off against the Lakeshore Demolition at this year's USWRA National Championships in an exhilarating sports showdown. The starting line for Texas, comprised of Verdin, Pabön, Kirkland, and Garcia, squared off against Lakeshore's Reddington, Daily, Brackett, and Christian. The demolition faced a tenacious defense by the Stampede. Both Verdin and Pabon caused five turnovers and numerous timeouts in the first five minutes. At the end of the quarter the score stood at 14-7 in favor of Texas. 

 

Displaying their depth, the Stampede rotated their entire bench into the game, extending their lead to 28-17 by halftime. In the second half, Texas implemented a strategic zone defense to maintain their advantage, preparing for the rigorous challenges ahead on the court. Stand out play from the deuces showed the teams depth and preparation for this year‘s nationals. The Stampede's cohesive performance culminated in a resounding victory, with a final score of 57-40.

 

Coach Gabriel Garcia praised his team's performance, stating, "The team did well in the first game. We were able to run through some lines and get on the same page.
