Coach of the stampede to begin international coaching journey

Gabriel Garcia, head coach of the Texas Stampede wheelchair rugby team, has been named the assistant coach for the Team USA Lowpoint squad heading to the 2025 World Games in China. This prestigious honor comes on the heels of Garcia’s impressive third season as head coach, where the Stampede finished as national runners-up in Tampa, Florida, in 2024. Under Garcia’s leadership, the team showed tremendous growth, and his strategic acumen on the court earned him the well-deserved title of Best Coach in the League for 2024. His selection as assistant coach for Team USA marks a major milestone in his coaching career, demonstrating his growing influence in the world of adaptive sports.

"I'm extremely honored to have been asked to be the assistant coach," Garcia said. "Representing my country has always been a dream and this will be that opportunity. I'm excited to coach this group and head to the World Games 2025." Garcia’s appointment reflects not only his expertise in wheelchair rugby but also the deep respect he has earned within the adaptive sports community. His dedication to developing athletes both on and off the court has made a lasting impact, and this new chapter with Team USA presents a thrilling opportunity for him to take his coaching skills to the global stage.

The Texas Stampede are proud of their head coach's achievements and eagerly support him as he embarks on this exciting new challenge. "We're all excited for Coach Garcia and the opportunities ahead, both for him and for the sport," said a spokesperson for the Stampede. As Garcia prepares for the 2025 World Games, the entire Stampede family remains committed to growing the game of wheelchair rugby and supporting their coach every step of the way.
