Stampede begin 2025 in Louisville

The Texas Stampede Wheelchair Rugby team is gearing up for an exciting weekend at The Code of Honor Cup in Louisville, Kentucky, taking place from February 14–16. This marks the team’s return to the tournament where they triumphed in 2020, and they are eager to make another strong showing. Despite facing a short-handed roster, the Stampede is determined to work on their game and build momentum for the season ahead. Head Coach Gabriel Garcia shared his optimism, saying, "After being off court for so long, we are looking to get back on court to work on a few things. We will be short handed this weekend, but everyone is ready to step up."

This will be the Stampede's first tournament of the year, and expectations are high with the return of key players. Sebastien Verdin, fresh off a silver medal performance with Team France at the World Wheelchair Rugby Championship in Japan last week, is set to make his impact on the court. Additionally, Alejandro Pabon, who recently rejoined USA Wheelchair Rugby, brings his experience and skill back to the team. Veteran Ray Hennagir, who has spent the past season playing for a Greek wheelchair basketball team, will also make his return, bringing valuable leadership to the squad. One team member expressed the collective excitement, saying, "We are putting all the pieces together for our national championship run."

Competing in the Division One category, the Texas Stampede will look to make a statement at this yearly invitational. As they set their sights on a national championship, the team will be excited to test their skills against top-tier competition.
