Stampede stand out leads team this weekend at USWRA national championships

Alejandro “Alex” Pabon is set to take the court this weekend at the 2025 USWRA National Championships in Tampa, Florida, representing the Texas Stampede in the top division of wheelchair rugby. A dynamic and versatile athlete, Alex recently rejoined Team USAWR and traveled overseas to compete in the prestigious Shibuya Invitational in Japan, facing off against elite squads from Team Japan and Team Australia. Returning stateside with a renewed focus, Alex is eager to help lead the Stampede back to the national finals. “Excited to get back on the court with this team and contend for another title,” Pabon said. Quoting Benjamin Franklin, he added, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

The 2025 season has been a whirlwind for the dual-sport athlete, who also excels in wheelchair basketball. Pabon's relentless work ethic and leadership in both sports have earned him numerous accolades and the respect of his peers. On and off the court, he continues to inspire those around him, pushing teammates and competitors alike to raise their level of play. Whether delivering clutch performances in tournament play or mentoring younger athletes, Pabon’s impact stretches far beyond the scoreboard.

As the Texas Stampede prepare to charge into the national championship bracket, all eyes will be on Pabon and his veteran leadership. With experience, drive, and a fierce competitive edge, he’s poised to be a key contributor to the Stampede’s title run.
