Walk in my Wheels a smashing success

The 3rd Annual Walk in My Wheels Tourname brought to you by CWS Apartment Homes of Austin TX was once again a huge success! CWS teamed up with The Texas Stampede to raise money to support the team through the 2013-2014 season. As in years past able bodied competitors switched places with the Stampede members and tried their hands at the fast paced game of wheelchair rugby while the Stampede players coach. This year 8 teams competed in pool play with the best records advancing to play for the top four spots.

The 3rd and 4th place game saw The Maulers coached by Stampede member CJ Brown vs The Landlords coached by Stampede rookie Daniel Curtis. The Maulers came out swinging and took the early lead and never let go with strong performaces by Larry Tuner, Heather Rennerfeldt, and Morgan Gomez who took 3rd place.

The championship game saw The Number Crunchers coached by Stampede rookie Mason Symons vs The Block Bah-Bombs coached by Stampede member Gabriel Garcia. After taking an early lead The Number Crunchers struggled to control the rest of the game and saw The Block Bah-Bombs take the lead and The Championship for the second year in a row!

CWS was able to raise $6250 through player participation, concession and t-shirt sales, along with sponsor donations by Home Depot Supply, INDATUS,Metric Communications and many others.

The Texas Stampede would like to thank CWS Apartment Homes, CWS Corporate Housing, and the CWS BRIDGE program for organizing such a great event! A Special Thank You to Kim Fisher, Paige Gutierrez,  Christy Recio, and Lynnette Mouton for all their hard work!
