Ends on a sour note

The Stampede finished off the weekend in Phoenix 2-3, losing their last game on Sunday to a strong Las Vegas Renegades squad.  The team was disappointed with their record, but believe that they made strides in team dynamics and court presence. Coach Gumbert had this to say on the weekend, "The athletes really showed some moxie. Even when we were losing, everyone hung in there and gave it their all.  With a few more practices under our belt we will have a better showing."

The weekend did have a few bright moments. Crisis was adverted when ABIL bus driver Daniel picked Raf Hendrix up from the hospital and made a special trip to ensure that athletes Emily Shryock and CJ Brown made it to their flight on time. Additionally, Stampede low pointer Jeff Butler received a spot on the all-tournament team for his class 0.5.

The Stampede head to Houston for sectionals on February 24th, vying for a spot in the national championship.
