Young squad gets win on day 3

Sunday morning held one more opportunity for the Stampede to bring home a win against the host North Texas Cowboys. Both squads took the court with intensity and play was spirited as the teams traded goals through the first quarter. The Stampede ran a tight defense and was able to capitalize on forced errors committed by the Cowboys, building a small lead in the second quarter. An overzealous defensive effort by Stampede player Jimmy Trbovich led to his ejection from the game and shifted the momentum to the Cowboys favor into the third quarter. An intense defensive effort by the Stampede enabled them to regain control of the match and win 51-46.

The Second Annual Matt Reynolds Memorial Rugby Tournament offered the Stampede a valuable opportunity to develop younger players and work on fundamental skills in real game situations. Mason Symons was named best 3.0 player of the tournament and Reece Whitteker won the Sportsmanship Award.
