~~The Stampede emerged out of Day 1 at the Mountain Sectionals with a 1-1 record. Number 1 seed Phoenix leveled the Texas side 59 - 41 in the early game. "We played decent the first 2 quarters" said coach James Gumbert. "The Heat is a strong side and brought their A game".  

Texas rebounded in the second test against in state rival San Antonio. The match was never in doubt as the Stampede beat the Steel 53 - 33. Today's game was highlighted by the return of Reece Whittaker who carried the squad for 2 quarters. "It was good to have Reece back, he brings a lot of energy" remarked Gumbert.

The tournament resumes Saturday with a 11:30 match against U of A.
