Win or go home proves to be motivation for Texas

Day 2 of the Mountain Sections had its share of ups and downs. The day began with a "must win" to get in game between the Stampede and the UofA Wildcats. The Stampede jumped out to a immediate 7-1 margin and never looked back. Considerable contributions in the game came from Daniel "The Cook" Curtis and Gabriel "Sure Hands" Garcia. In what may have been the highlight catch of the tourney Garcia caught a half court pass from Mason "Snookums" Symmons to end the game.  The final Texas 59 - UofA 35.

The old saying of "when one goes down another steps up" was put to the test in the crossover against Tucson. Texas playing without 3.0 Emily Shryock turned to 2.0 and USA Wheelchair team member CJ Brown to fill in. The Stampede (Hendrix, Brown,Groff, and Butler) would take the floor with 6.5 points.

Ironman rugby as some call it, neither Texas nor Tucson subbed in the game. The match was a seesaw battle littered with penalties and tough play. The two teams exchanged goals for the better part of 4 periods with neither side able to put more than 4 goals between the other. The tipping point came late in the 4th when Texas, which had battled from 4 down, had  a one point lead and was on defense had came up with two huge turnovers caused in large part by the duo of Groff and Butler.  The Stampede closes out the game with a 3 point Texas win!

With that victory the Stampede advances to the Finals for a rematch against the Phoenix Heat. Game time is 11:30am.
