Final day filled with emotion and big hits

~~The Stampede finished the 2014 Campaign with a 8th place finish at the Division 1 2014 National Championships.

“We made a choice today to forfeit our game with the Lakeshore Demolition” said head coach James Gumbert. “We did it so we could play our team mate Emily Shryock”. “Lakeshore was gracious enough along with the tournament director refs and staff to allow us a chance to play as the team that got to nationals one more time”.

Emily who had been deemed “unclassifiable” played the entire game and between the hits and goals, the smile on her face had returned once again.  “It was the right thing to do” said Landon Groff.  “She was a big reason we were at nationals”.

And while the team lost in a forfeit 1-0, they gained so much more in return,  Emily got to play with everyone of her team mates and one more time got to experience being part of something bigger than a game. “It wasn’t the weekend we wanted but it ended in a way that will always be a special memory” said Gumbert.
