Texas finishes 7 – 0 and claims the Demolition Derby Invitational this weekend. The tournament saw tremendous grit and big plays through the course of the tournament. The Stampede was able to bring it all together as they played St Louis for the championship.
The game which featured 9 national team members was a slug fest as St Louis jumped out to a quick 2 – 0 lead. The Stampede would answer the bell and come out slinging and climb back into the game and claim a 2 pt lead going into the second.
The boys from Texas would never look back. They put together a great second quarter and end the period with a 5 pt lead. “It was a great quarter” said coach James Gumbert. “hats off to coach Tucker and the Rams for their efforts”. “We expect to see them at nationals in 2 months”.
The third quarter was another win for the Stampede as they expanded their lead to 9. The Stampede led behind MVP Chris Bond and best low pointer Jeff Butler quipped “it was a great team win”.
As the final horn sounded the Stampede rolled away with a 50 -43 victory. A great game and even better tournament. A special thanks the Lakeshore Foundation for hosting and the incredible fans who came out to support the team. Next matches will be in 2 weeks in Irving Texas.
