Weekend invitational is a prelude to Demolition Derby

The Texas Stampede competed in the first annual CALTEX challenge this past weekend. The tournament held in Houston was a matchup of young and veteran athletes from both Texas and California.

This would be the first campaign of the 2016 year for the stampede. Led behind emerging athletes Compton Pabon and Brewer, the Stampede started with a victory over San Diego-based sharp edge. We thought we played a decent game on Friday", said coach James Gumbert.

Saturday would see the Stampede drop two to in-state rival TIRR Texans. The stampede rebounded to take one more from San Diego sharp later in the day.

"Sunday, was The day the team really came together" said Gumbert. We really played our best two games of the weekend and were able to win both of the matches".

The stampede ended the weekend with an overall 4-2 record and have already set their sites to this weekend's demolition derby in Birmingham Alabama.

"This was a good test for us and showed we have gained a lot, but we need to continue to grow", said Gumbert. The chance for the stampede to grow starts this Friday at 10 o'clock against shepherd.
