Athletes exposed to development and exhibition at Ft Hood

The Texas Stampede and Easter Seals society hosted the Oscar Mike militia wheelchair rugby team for a joint camp and exhibition June 28-30 at the PAC in Leander. The camp led by Stampede and USA WR coach James Gumbert featured drills, individual instruction, chair set up, Analysis, classroom time, and game experience was designed to help the team take the next step in their development.

"Team Oscar Mike grew together over the course of the three day camp. We built comraderie and worked on team play. Topping the camp off with a demonstration at ft. Hood for kids and teachers was fantastic" said OM and Stampede athlete Mike Schacherbauer adding "Playing in front of the fans at Ft Hood was a treat for everyone involved".

The OM Team has been playing as a team domestically and internationally over the past few years. "We really wanted to give this team the best experience and instruction possible. We want them to be competitive in the events that they go to and see them succeed as much on the court as they do off". Said Coach Gumbert.

None of this would have been able to happen without the support of some key sponsors. Oscar Mike, CandR medical, Easter Seals and Athlete and Staff from the Stampede all played a critical role in the success of this camp. "it takes a lot to run a camp like this and we are very fortunate to have some incredible people and businesses that surround us", Said Coach Gumbert.
