Stampede overcome disappointment and finish strong

In a thrilling weekend at the Tampa Invitational, the Texas Stampede wheelchair rugby team showcased their competitive spirit. Despite a Saturday  loss to London Ontario in a nail-biting 56 to 55 match, the Stampede fought hard, coming back from a 5-point deficit to force an exciting extra period. Coach Gabriel Garcia reflected, "We had a tough loss, but the team showed good composure. Unfortunately, miscues left us on the wrong side of the win."

The defining moment of the tournament came in the consolation game against in-state rival TIRR Texans, where the Stampede secured a one-point victory, finishing third overall. Alex Pabon summed up the weekend, stating, "Sticking together through adversity, a reminder of last year at nationals when we trusted each other through the ups and downs."

Looking ahead, the Stampede is gearing up for the Demolition Derby in Birmingham, Alabama, returning to action in early February. For more details and updates, follow the Stampede at www.fearthesteer.org.
