Stampede beat host demolition in Birmingham, Alabama

The Texas Stampede thundered into Birmingham, Alabama, this weekend, ready to face their first demolition derby challenge against host Lakeshore Demolition. The starting lineup showcased the formidable trio of Verdin, Pabon, and Kirkland, alongside Bowser. Their opponents included current Team USA member Reddington and former USA athletes Daily and Brackett.

In a nail-biting first quarter, the Stampede took an early lead by five points, propelled by the defensive prowess of Pabon. The Stampede's resilience kept Lakeshore Demolition at bay, setting the tone for the game.

As the game progressed into the second quarter, the Stampede intensified their efforts, pulling away to a commanding 12-point margin. Verdin and Kirkland emerged as key contributors, each scoring four tries during the quarter, showcasing their offensive abilities.

The fourth quarter witnessed a strategic move as Josh Smith stepped in, proving to be a crucial substitution for the Stampede. This decision set the stage for their upcoming Saturday and Sunday matches, displaying the team's depth and versatility.

In a dominant fourth quarter performance, Texas played with six points on the floor, increasing the margin of separation to over 30 points. The final score stood at 66-34, with French Paralympic and Stampede athlete Sebastien Verdin earning the well-deserved title of player of the match.
