Athletes teach sport to Chinese Scholars

The Stampede returned to the hardwood Thursday afternoon at the University of Texas. The reason wasn't for a competition but for demonstration. Members of the team put on an exhibition for Visiting scholars from the Shanghai University of Sport studying American sports culture for a month.  In addition to rugby, they will visit various facilities (UT stadium and COTA for example) and attend sporting events.

Participants learned equipment design, classification guidelines, rules of the game, and gameplay. Stampede members Brewer and Schacherbauer were leads with the students.

"The students really enjoyed the event today and rugby was definitely a hit! We were very fortunate to have Coach Gumbert in town to lead the rugby portion of the program despite his busy schedule preparing USAWR for the Paralympic Games in September. A huge thank you to the Stampede for sharing our sport with these visiting scholars. What Starts Here Changes the World!" said Stampede athlete and UT employee Shawn Meredith.
