The Texas Stampede competed in the 2017 Cougar Cup held at the University of Houston recreation center this weekend. The tournament hosted by the University of Houston adaptive sports program featured teams from Houston, Dallas and the Texas Stampede.

Stampede led by assistant coach Gabriel Garcia, featured a lot of youth and some seasoned veterans were looking to begin to put polish on their games in anticipation of defending the Division I national championship.

Coach Garcia had this to say on the weekend, "The team welcomed back an old member (Emily Shryock and Shawn Meredith) to action and tried to get a quick groove going".  "Day 1 was tough but many lessons were taken from  time on the court" and "On day 2 we had a better understanding of our strengths and it showed on the court".  He  went on to say that overall "Great contributions were made by all. especially by curtis, ross, and Compton as they saw significant court time on day 2.

The Stampede finished two and two on the weekend and took positive steps individually and as a team. Next up for Texas, will be this weekend in Birmingham Alabama as the team will compete in the demolition derby. For more information go to www.fearthesteer.com and look under calendar.
